The Tenth Convocation of the Central University of Karnataka, Kalaburagi — with the Vice President of India as chief guest. Direction, photography and film for a ceremony under national protocol.
01The Brief
A central university's tenth convocation, with the Vice President of India in the chair.
The Central University of Karnataka, Kalaburagi, held its Tenth Annual Convocation on Wednesday, 22 April 2026. The chief guest was the Vice President of India, who arrived by helicopter and was received on the helipad by the Vice-Chancellor and senior faculty.
The Governor of Karnataka — who serves as Chancellor — was also on stage. 7Dots was brought in for the full coverage: direction, photography and event film.
When the Vice President is on stage, the schedule runs on protocol, not on your shot list.
Problem
A VVIP event means helicopter arrival, security cordons, fixed camera positions, and a ceremony that will not pause for a missed frame. SPG-level protocol dictates where you stand and when you move. The coverage has to be complete and invisible.
Pre-plan every frame against the run of show, then disappear.
Solution
We mapped the full ceremonial sequence — helipad arrival, academic procession, the convocation address, gold medal presentations, group portraits, memento exchange — and assigned camera positions before the motorcade landed. On the day, every camera knew its mark.

02The Procession
Faculty in white and purple, walking the red carpet.
The academic procession — faculty in the university's white-and-purple ceremonial stoles — walked through a decorated corridor to the convocation hall. The procession is the opening frame of any convocation film, and it had to read as both formal and alive.

03The Ceremony
The address, the medals, the moments that outlive the day.
The Vice President delivered the convocation address from the flower-draped podium, broadcast live on All India Radio. Gold medallists received their degrees on stage. The university presented a brass Ganesha as a ceremonial memento.
These are the frames a university keeps — the address, the handshake, the scroll. Composed under protocol constraints, in the minutes the schedule allowed.

04The Record
The portraits a university keeps for its own history.
Two formal group photographs define the convocation record — the full faculty on stage, and the gold medallists with the chief guest. Both composed for a hundred-plus people under a marquee, in the minutes protocol allowed.
